About

Dear Fellow Garden Enthusiasts,

I am a native Long Islander who is always working in or looking at gardens, garden catalogues, garden books, or browsing garden shops & nurseries.  I know there are many people like me out there who just can’t get enough of plants & gardens and look for other gardens to visit when they are too tired to work in their own!  I am also a botanical artist, an Islip Project Bloom & community garden volunteer, and a member of BCAHS.

I started this blog to provide one location where Long Island garden-lovers could find a calendar of local garden related events.  Since this is a new endeavor, expect changes in the layout and information as I get feedback from viewers on how to make it even better.

Keep in mind this blog is offered for informational purposes only.  Please check with individual organizations regarding specific events, dates and times before heading out for an event.

I hope you enjoy the information here, and as always, happy gardening!

  1. Congratulations Mary Jo, your website providing information about up-coming events in your area for us avid garden-lovers is wonderful! We could use such a site here in San Diego. The one thing we think would be a great addition to your site would be the simple name of each plant/flower displayed. That would be a helpful addition for some of us who love what we see but don’t recognize the plant/flower and sometimes have more difficulty trying to look it up online or in our gardening books, etc.
Keep up the good work. Your garden is beautiful. We’re drooling.
    Stan and Nancy
